Welcome to the Green Bistro

The Green Bistro is a student-led initiative aimed at encouraging students to make educated, healthy food choices. Every morning students have the option of buying the “Smoothie of the Day”. A Green Bistro Smoothie always includes a leafy green component, a plant-based protein component (often hemp seeds) , a dairy-milk alternative as well as the fruit combination of the day. Each smoothie contains anywhere from 15-20 grams of protein and is completely vegan. Also for sale are vegan energy bites and granola bars, all of which are made by the school’s Clean-Cooking Class.

‘A Promise for Prom’ to close and reopen in 10 schools

LCCHS was featured on Global Montreal for the prom dress & suits initiative, Sparkle & Sharp. Students from any LBPSB school can rent a dress or suit with shoes & accessories for their prom from LCCHS for $10. This was an initiative that was started last year in December by students, Maria Pan & Ms Ashley, teacher.

Josie D’Adamo, Vice-Principal and her team have recently received some generous donations from Lou-Ann in Rigaud, who had a similar project going. We are so grateful for her donations and we look forward to continuing this project for many years to come. We are also very thankful for Monette Gallant who has helped immensely with donations and Spring & Aldo stores for their beautiful donations. Young girls will be able to enjoy their Cinderella moment and the young men will look sharp for their memorable prom.

LCCHS Annual Food Drive

Our annual canned food drive was a great success on Wednesday, December 7th. LCCHS Staff, students, former students and their families braved the cold and collected non-perishable items to provide food baskets for families of the LCCHS community and to help out the parishes nearby. We are so proud of our community's generosity and our school's willingness to volunteer to ensure that everyone can enjoy the holidays.

Thank you to our PPO for offering hot chocolate & snacks to all our volunteers!

This Remembrance Day, our traditional speaker, the well-liked Major Joseph Nunez, finds himself assigned to an important mission to the people of the Congo in Africa. Nevertheless, many of our students have written him and his troops, wishing them well on this year’s Vimy memorial post cards, which will be sent directly to his location.

Best wishes on your mission Major, and we look forward to hearing about it first-hand when you return to us!

Congratulations to a great school

Our daughter graduated this past June from the IBO program at your school and I have to say that we never really took the time to congratulate all the teachers and management for the exceptional program she took the last 5 years. It prepared these teenagers for life, from the great education, the activities, the leadership program, and to finally the amazing trips. The trips were done in such a way, that it prepared them gradually with small trips until they finally reached the big Europe trip. That was an experience they will never forget. What teenager gets to travel so many countries in Europe.

They learned how to multitask and organizational skills for the numerous projects they had to tackle simultaneously. That will serve them greatly in life.

The personal project in the last year of the IBO program showed them how to work under pressure achieving their goal in whatever project they took on in order to achieve personal satisfaction for a job well done. In my daughter's case it was fashion design and couture how to master a project from the initial design to completion of the project. They worked very hard but at the end it was very rewarding. Another experience they will not forget.

Great school. Exceptional program but most of all exceptional teachers.

Congratulations to everyone implicated in these last wonderful 5 years.

LCCHS is delighted to be one of nine schools from across Canada to receive the Future Shop ‘Future Generation Tech Lab Grant’. The grant monies will be used at each school’s discretion to purchase the technology and equipment they need to keep students inspired, motivated and empowered as they progress through their studies.

At a ceremony on September 26, 2014, Mr. Carl Ornek, General Manager of the Future Shop store in LaSalle, and several members of his team, presented the Principal, Ann Marie Matheson, with a cheque in the amount of $19,950. Also taking part in the ceremony were Mr. David Meloche, Director of Region 3, Ms. Betty Dunning, school Librarian and two student representatives, Rachel Humphries in Sec. 4 and Luca Rosati in Sec 2.

LCCHS makes great strides to ensure that every student has the tools they need to meet the challenges of today. With their Future Generation Tech Lab grant, LCCHS is aiming to further engage its students by transforming the Library into a 21st-century learning environment. The addition of user-friendly Macintosh computers for video and project editing will help to spur creativity in students, while a ‘Kobo Corner’ will foster reading and comprehension skills through a technological approach. The addition of a smart board and projector will also make the library a true community learning center.

LCCHS says “Many thanks” to Future Shop!
